In sadness, I dissent.

Earlier today, the US Supreme Court issued its unsurprising, but wildly disappointing ruling in United States v. Skrmetti, allowing Tennessee’s discriminatory ban on gender care for youth to stand.

Justice Sotomayor wrote a profound dissent, which I encourage you to read in full. It starts on page 86 of the ruling.

By retreating from meaningful judicial review exactly where it matters most, the Court abandons transgender children and their families to political whims.
